Engine Creative shortlisted for Digital Entrepreneur Awards

The shortlist for this year’s Digital Entrepreneur Awards (DEA) has been announced and we’re pleased to say that the Engine Creative team are finalists in two categories.

The DEAs champion entrepreneurs from across the country who are leading the way in shaping our digital future and Engine Creative has been shortlisted for both the Digital Agency of the Year and Digital Team of the Year awards.

The judges recognised the unique position that Engine Creative has created for itself with AR technology, having pushed the possibilities of augmented reality since 2011, creating groundbreaking, pioneering AR content experiences for the biggest brands in the world.

Delivering pioneering AR experiences

In response to the DEA announcement, Engine Creative’s Andy Wise outlined some of the key challenges that have been overcome by the agency as they work to position themselves as the UK’s leading AR agency:

“There are always challenges where innovation is involved and we have worked hard to build a culture within the business where innovation thrives.

The most obvious challenge is to ensure that we understand the technical side of delivering AR experiences. As an agency, we have remained tech neutral and have worked with a range of augmented reality software providers including Aurasma and Metaio and are currently using Wikitude and Vuforia. Apple ARKit and Google ARCore projects are also currently in the R&D schedule as we actively assign resources to ensure our AR expertise remains ahead of the curve.

Wherever new technology is involved, end users need to be educated as to the features and benefits. There is always a risk involved in adopting new technology and we have spent a lot of resource in creating content (white papers, videos, blog posts) to educate and inform our target audience around the opportunities that augmented reality offers brands. To support and mitigate risks in adopting this new technology, we have also developed more refined ways of measuring the impact of the AR experiences we deploy. Comprehensive analytics can now be attached to all of the campaigns and digital products we develop.

Part of this education is the development of compelling case studies and demos and this where we have excelled. No other agency in the UK has such an impressive and varied portfolio of AR experiences deployed for global brands.

We’ve worked with companies including Disney, Sony and BIC to create branded new reality (AR, VR and MXR) experiences; a résumé that has given us the expertise to invest in our own AR products. Reydar and Reality Engine are our very own AR browser and platform and provide us with a unique proposition (on top of the bespoke solution we also offer) that gives us another lead on our competition. From using Reydar to run a stand alone campaign to powering multi-campaign, branded apps with Reality Engine, our award-winning team are able to create unique and compelling AR experiences like no other.”

Recognising digital innovation and entrepreneurial talent

The Digital Entrepreneur Awards awards recognise Britain’s digital entrepreneurial talent and have been running for over a decade with the number and quality of entries growing year on year.

Winners of the DEAs will be announced at the awards ceremony in November where the Engine Creative team will be donning their best outfits and keeping their fingers firmly crossed.
