Engine Creative has worked with the Open University (OU) as a preferred partner since 2006. Our role is to act as an extension of their internal communications team as well as offering specialist services outside of their existing skill sets.

Despite having a comprehensive internal resource for a wide range of design and marketing requirements, the OU look to a select number of external agencies to support them on overflow and major projects.

Brand compliancy

An understanding and strict adherence to the OU's comprehensive brand guidelines is essential with any external agency. All agencies are thoroughly vetted for creative ability and professional accountability prior to being employed by the OU.

We have worked with the LTS (Learning and Teaching Solutions) Corporate department of the OU on a number of projects aimed at enhancing the usability of educational programmes. This work includes Flash interactivities, illustration work and printed collateral.

Getting interactive

The OU has also worked closely with Engine Creative to relaunch its OU Life Screensaver. The new version of the dynamic communications tool keeps users up to date with all of the latest news and events from the in an engaging and visually rich way that delivers OU updates direct to the screens of students, alumni and staff of the UK's biggest university. 

The new format will allow for additional functionality to be added and reflects the OU's determination to maintain its position as a leading edge interactive organisation. 

Engine Creative has also been involved in a range of major projects for the OU including the design and production of their Annual Report and the brand identity and related marketing collateral for their 40 Year celebration activity.
