As I have spoken about in my previous blogs, here at Engine Creative we have been busy creating Augmented Reality content for Bauer Media’s heat magazine. With the amazing success of heat’s entertainment AR special, the magazine has now become the first weekly magazine to include regular AR content for its readers and we have been working closely with heat’s editorial team, ensuring that the content features elements of Engine’s signature quirkiness for good measure!
We are big believers that AR is the future for printed media as we believe that it has the potential to put the power firmly back into the hands of publishers. By utilising exclusive video content that cannot be viewed via any other media channel, publishers have the ability to engage their readers like never before.
As brands including heat magazine have discovered with celebrities of the moment One Direction, Doctor Who’s Matt Smith and Tom Daley, the fact that their loyal fan bases cannot see their favourite celebrity video content anywhere else acts as a strong promotional and selling tool for the publication. Furthermore, fan based social media sites members will engage with the content and help spread the message about their favourite celebrity, essentially doing your marketing for you!
So there you have it. AR is not only the innovative channel through which to interact with consumers, but also a tool that publications can use to create a competitive advantage by offering readers exclusive content.
