Engine Creative has been busy cementing its growing digital reputation by recently developing apps for clients including Ogle, Lacoste, heat Magazine, Top Gear Magazine, Shelfield Academy and Benefit Cosmetics.
The growth and popularity of the smartphone is clear for all to see with 63.3% of all mobile users now owning a smartphone device. Apps have taken a pivotal role in our everyday lives whether it be to monitor our diet progress, keep up to date with the latest World news or just to play the latest game that everyone in the office won’t stop talking about! With key distributors Amazon and Apple reporting over 15 million visitors to their app sites in November 2012 alone the importance of brands developing relevant apps for their customers will continue to be crucial to their market positioning.
Essentially apps could prove to be the saviour for tired industries in need of a digital revival, putting the spark back into the retail and print media industries and enticing interactivity back into education.
We have recently developed an AR learning experience for Shelfield Academy providing students with an engaging ‘CSI style’ science lesson encouraging them to solve a crime case by using Augmented Reality (AR) to discover clues and evidence.
We have also been adding some augmented magic to the Lacoste LCST campaign (iOS and Android) to “Bring the Colour” to consumers across 6 global territories, inviting them to scan a trigger image distributed on shop windows, in-store signage and promotional postcards to reveal exclusive 3D video animation content.
In addition we also updated the Benefit Cosmetics ‘Wishlist’ app that we developed late last year to a Valentine’s Day theme to capitalise on the huge commercial opportunities that the event now holds for retailers. We are now continuing to re-vamp the app for Spring with fresh imagery to firmly welcome the return of the warmer weather!
Engine Creative has even taken their app development skills to emerging markets such as the UAE where we have created the AR platform ‘Ogle’ an app that has been used by YUM! Brands, Pizza Hut, Dubai Police and Etisalat on their high-profile digital marketing campaigns.
