World Cup hairdos and hair don’ts

Everybody is talking about the football and rightly so. So are we. We’re talking about the relationship between football and hair and have compiled two amazing footballing teams to slug it out for the title of ‘Dodgy Barnet or Beard in Recent World Cup History’.

Our first bunch of twinkle toed reprobates includes some true classics. When they crossed the white line they also crossed a clear line between taste and tasteless. Style icons or hairy blunders, you decide:

Peter Disztl (Hungary)

Trifon Ivanov (Bulgaria)
Paul Breitner (West Germany)
Alexi Lalas (USA)
Giuseppe Bergomi (Italy)

Marcello Balboa (USA)
Carlos Valderrama (Columbia)
Claudio Caniggia (Argentina)

Chris Waddle (England)
Kevin Keegan (England)
Roberto Baggio (Italy)

Rene Higuita (Columbia)
Abel Xavier (Portugal)Our second XI includes some truly shocking hair don’ts from yester year from the classic Charlton comb over to the sublime Ronaldo ‘Anti Sven’ of 2002. Embarrassingly this team is predominantly made up of England players… :-(

David James (England)

Bacary Sagna (France)
Rigobert Song (Cameroon)
Taribo West (Nigeria)
Christian Ziege (Germany)

Rudi Voller (Germany)
Bobby Charlton (England)
Chris Waddle (England)

Jermain Defoe (England)
Ronaldo (Brazil)
Djibril Cisse (France)Let us know your favourites and let us know who you think would win. Best comment gets a free Brazilian…

  • Awesome timing, that’ll save me a few bob!

  • Scott

haha just goes to show that making ridiculous amounts of money doesn’t necessarily equate to good taste.

(by the way, I think Hannah deserves the Brazilian!)
