We’ve always known that our home county has its fair share of rich cultural heritage and so it was great to get the opportunity to promote the investment being made in this area by working in partnership with WNDC to create an online presence for Northants Culture: A Cultural Investment Plan for West Northamptonshire.

The website places regionally significant news and events in context with a comprehensive plan to ‘position culture at the heart of the planning and development agenda in West Northamptonshire’. From our highly regarded Royal & Derngate theatre that has just been recognised as the ‘Most Exciting Regional Theatre of the Decade’ by The Guardian through to the bustling creative space that is the Fishmarket, Northampton has plenty of arts and culture to be proud of.
The simplicity of the Northants Culture brand enabled us to create a design template which allowed the cultural events to take centre stage and become the driving force behind the online presence. The brand itself reflects this simple and direct approach working with rather than competing against a range events and cultural activity.

The site was developed using WordPress, an endlessly customisable open source content management system (CMS) which allows client administrators to have complete control over the content and structure of their site. As a design agency working on an ever growing number of public sector web projects, the use of open source technology such as WordPress, Drupal, Magento and Symfony is key in being able to deliver powerful and user friendly web solutions in a cost efficient and flexible way.
Future plans for the site include the ability to map a range of cultural activity in the region as well as a process to bring in external events feeds from third party partners.

The Northants Culture initiative sits at the heart of the creative economy in our region and we’re more than happy to be a central part of promoting one of the largest and fastest growing sectors in the world. Wow. Exciting stuff when you put it like that.
